Coffee is the second most traded product in the world. At first, African tribes actually ate coffee. They mixed coffee beans with fat and as a result this formed edible energy balls. Ethiopian goats then ate these energy balls and began dancing and running about. The shepherds in Ethiopia then realized the effects of caffeine. There is an area between the two tropics of Cancer and Capricorn which is known as the “bean belt”. Coffee is only found in these areas. In the United States for example, Hawaii is the only state that grows coffee. The trees that coffee grows on can actually go on to be about 30 feet tall. But for the sake of easy picking, cultivators do not allow the trees to go taller than 10 feet.
